Science

I finished my second round of allergy tests today. They stuck me 40 times in both arms. Turns out when they inject you with mold it hurts more than when they inject you with pork. Go figure. While you’re stuck in this broom closet for twenty minutes (the holes have to swell up accordingly) with the lady that just attacked you with mold needles you have nothing to do but talk. So we talked about allergies, it’s really all we have in common. She explained that allergies are just your body over-reacting to some substance that it thinks is harmful but really isn’t. Kind of like this. The “cure” for this is a three year program of shots containing the very things that you are allergic to which will make your body get tougher and then voila you are no longer “allergic”. After explaining this to me I asked my nurse if she thought that sounded very scientific, she said “No, I guess not.”

    That’s awesome.

Allergy tests are the worst. But years of allergy shots are even worser… good luck!
