You restored my faith in, well…you. I thought the electoral college was broken. I always thought a candidate shoudln’t be able to win the popular vote and lose the race. Last night everything worked as it was designed to work and we made real change happen. The past two elections I felt like there was nothing I could do, like my vote didn’t matter, and for the most part it didn’t in those races. By itself a single vote isn’t much, but when a nation of individuals stand up together and say “Enough.” then the system works.
Justin pointed out that we passed amendment 2 and didn’t pass amendment 1 and while that makes me really sad, nothing can keep me from smiling today.
For the first time in eight years I’m proud to be an American and hopeful for the future. Now all I have to do is deal with the next four years of family gatherings.
